312 cured of blindness
In March, 2021, the Tej Kohli and Ruit Foundation made their way towards the district of Lumbini. This region is a sacred area due to it being the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
Eye health teams screened more than 900 people inside the Royal Thai Monastery. Many people from the surrounding areas attended the screening camp, each experiencing difficulty in their eyes. Each person went on to have their sight checked for free by the Tej Kohli and Ruit Foundation screening team.
Out of the 900+ people screened, 312 people were found to be struggling with cataract blindness. Each person was invited to receive a free cataract surgery under the Tej Kohli and Ruit Foundation.

The 312 patients were assigned dates for their free surgery. In the meantime, the Tej Kohli and Ruit Foundation medical team converted a small prayer room in Lumbini into an operating theater. Once the theatre was set up, Dr. Sanduk Ruit, who is also the co-founder of the Tej Kohli and Ruit Foundation, assisted by Dr. Sagar Ruit. The two ophthalmologists were assisted by a team of healthcare personnel and conducted 312 cataract surgeries in four days.
